Description
This is an 18th-century barn located approximately 95 metres north-west of Beslyns Farmhouse in Great Bardfield. The barn is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. It consists of five bays arranged in a north-east to south-west orientation, featuring an aisle on the north-west side and a midstrey to the south-east. There are lean-to extensions on either side of the midstrey. The base walls are about one metre high and constructed of red brick in Flemish bond on the south-east side and south-west end, while the north-east end is built up with red brick in a herringbone pattern. The aisle wall has heavy studding, and there is a reversed assembly in two main span trusses and one aisle tie.
