Description

Nunnery Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is timber-framed and plastered, with panel pargetting ornamentation. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, and there are two red brick chimney stacks. The house consists of a front range and a wing to the rear left. The left front range is jettied, featuring a carved bracket to the left. The house has two storeys and a two- or three-light window range of leaded casements, some of which retain original frames and ironmongery, and drip hoods. A vertically boarded door is protected by a canopy and brackets, and a range of matching windows are present on the right return. It is believed that the house contains an original doorway with a four-centred arch under a square head, moulded jambs, carved leaf and mullet decoration to the spandrels, and arched braces to tie the beams.
