Description

Elms Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 15th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, featuring an exposed frame on the right jettied crosswing. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, and there is a central plastered red brick chimney stack. The building is designed in an H-plan and has two storeys. The window arrangement consists of 2:2:1, featuring various small paned casements as well as horizontal and vertically sliding sashes. A central gabled porch with a vertically boarded door adds to the entrance. The exposed frame includes halved double arched braces at the gable on both the ground and first floors. It is reputed to contain arched braces to tie beams and screen doorways with 4-centred heads.
