Description
Brunswick Villa is a late 18th-century house, altered in the 19th century. It is timber-framed with plaster rendering and a slate roof. The house has a double-range plan, with an internal stack at the left end of the front range. The front has two windows on each floor. The windows are mid-19th-century sashes with four lights; one ground-floor window has been altered. The front door is a five-panel design with a glazed top panel, a moulded architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and a moulded pediment. The roof is low-pitched and hipped on the right side. The rear elevation has late 18th-century sashes, some with crown glass, and scratched inscriptions. A late 18th-century rear door is also present. The roof structure includes ridge boards, side purlins, collars, and tiebeams; one tiebeam is inscribed "28 Nv 1771". Internally, there is a late 19th-century staircase with turned balusters, along with late 18th-century fire surrounds and architraves.
