Description

Dial House is a range of three attached cottages, now serving as two shops and one cottage. It dates from the early 19th century or earlier. The building is timber framed and clad with yellow brick at the front and red brick at the sides, which is mainly painted. The roof is covered with handmade red plain tiles. The main range faces southeast, consisting of no. 17 on the left, Dial House in the middle, and no. 19 on the right. There is an internal stack of gault brick between no. 17 and Dial House, positioned in front of the axis, and another internal axial stack of gault brick at the right end.

At the left end, there is a rear wing that has one storey and an attic, with a 19th-century external stack beyond it. There are also smaller single-storey extensions behind the main range. The building has two storeys. No. 17 features a 19th-century splayed shop window, a 19th-century casement window on the first floor, and a 19th-century half-glazed door with a simple canopy supported by scrolled brackets. Dial House includes a 19th-century two-storey splayed bay with casement windows and a four-panel door with a similar canopy. No. 19 has a two-storey splayed bay of 20th-century casements and a four-panel door with a similar canopy. The shop windows contain handmade glass, and the interior features boxed axial beams.
