Description
Byham Hall is a house that dates back to the 15th century or earlier. It features a timber frame with plaster and is faced with red brick, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The building has a half H plan and a hipped roof on the front elevation. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range of small paned vertical sliding sashes on the first floor, while the ground floor has a two-window range of three-light vertical sliding sashes. The central entrance consists of a two-panel door with four lights and a moulded surround, accompanied by a 20th-century red tiled gabled porch. Inside, there are exposed beams, including arched braces to the main tie beams in both crosswings, which were originally constructed with crown posts. The original timbers show heavy soot marks. The main block features cambered collar beams, and there is a dado of 16th-century panelling in the ground floor room.
