Description
Hawkwood Manor is a house that dates from the early 16th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tiled roof. The building features gabled crosswings on both the right and left sides, and has three red brick chimney stacks, with the central range having three octagonal shafts. There is a moulded eaves cornice on the central range. The house is two storeys high and has a window and door arrangement that includes mainly circa 1700 features. The first floor has a 1:3:1 window range, while the ground floor has a 1:2:1 range, along with single ranges on the crosswing outshots. The windows consist of 2, 3, or 4 light leaded casements with transoms in the central range, and small paned vertically sliding sashes in the crosswings. A fine central six-panelled door is framed by moulded pilasters, a moulded frieze with an upswept centre, and a moulded segmental head, all approached by steps.
