Description
A row of eight cottages located in Church Lane, Castle Hedingham, likely dating from the 18th century or earlier, with later alterations. The cottages are timber-framed and have brick and flint facings, topped by a red plain tiled roof. There are eight gabled dormers, each containing mainly 20th-century four-light, small-paned casement windows. Four red brick chimney stacks are present. The cottages are arranged as one storey and attics, with an eleven-window front featuring mainly small-paned casement windows. Each cottage has a 20th-century part-glazed door. A plaque indicates that the cottages were reconditioned under the provisions of the Housing Rural Workers Act of 1926. They are included in the listing for their group value in relation to the Church and Village.
