Description
Tyecorner Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring gabled roofs covered with peg tiles. The building has one storey and attics, arranged in an 'L' plan. The front block includes two gabled dormers, a gabled porch, and an off-centre stack with three diagonal shafts. The windows are a mix of 19th-century casements and some timber casements with iron opening lights. The gable ends are adorned with bargeboards that have open finials. The rear block, which is at right angles to the front, has a gambrel roof covered with peg tiles and a gabled dormer on the west face. It also features two gable end stacks and a lean-to roofed with slate on the south end. Inside, some of the framing is exposed, showcasing one roof truss of the raised collar type with shallow curving braces from its principal rafter. The interior also includes heavy chamfered floor joists with soffit tenons and diminished haunches, as well as an inglenook fireplace.
