Description
This is a 16th-century barn located approximately 30 metres east of Fambridge Hall. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a red plain tiled roof. The barn features gabled midstreys on both ends, with lean-to extensions. The left extension serves as an open cartlodge, while the right is an enclosed outbuilding that has a centrally placed vertically boarded door. The structure consists of seven bays and includes halved arched braces on the walls, halved and bladed scarf joints at the top plate, and jowled storey posts. There are some arched braces supporting the tie beams, along with later additions of hanging knees. The barn has been re-roofed using the original timbers and has a side purlin structure with arched braces.
