Description

The barn at Hall Farm is an early 16th-century structure. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a brick plinth, with a roof that is now covered in corrugated iron and hipped at the west end. The barn has four bays and a single aisle, featuring a cartway entry on the north side. Inside, the roof is constructed with clasped, through purlins and includes shallow arched bracing to the tie beams, along with paired cranked wind bracing. This type of bracing is also present in the roof of the adjacent house. The adjoining chaff-house likely dates from the same period; it is also timber framed, weatherboarded, and has a hipped roof now covered in corrugated iron, consisting of three bays and featuring cranked bracing to the tie beams.
