Description
No. 47 High Street is a house dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations from the 19th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure, with a painted brick plinth. The roof is plain tiled and has a rectangular ridge stack located to the right of the center. The building has one storey, an attic, and a cellar, along with a one-storey rear wing. The entrance includes a half-glazed 19th-century panelled door that was originally accessed by a stepped entry. There are three ground floor windows and two gabled casement dormer windows. Inside, the house showcases an exposed timber frame with a chimney bay, and the timber in the rear wing, which consists of two bays, may have been reused from a barn. The main hearth features clunch and brick jambs, along with shaped heads to niches. This house served as a butcher's shop until 1949.
