Description
No. 31 High Street is a house dating from the late 15th century or early 16th century, with later rebuilding and alterations from the 18th century or later. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a high tarred cemented plinth. The original thatched roof has been replaced with cedar shingles, and there is a ridge stack located to the left of center. The house has one storey, an attic, and a cellar. It consists of four timber-framed bays; the two northern bays form an open hall with an inserted floor and a frame for a display truss, while the two southern bays have been rebuilt. The stack and hearths have also been rebuilt. The main entrance is located in the north gable, and there are three casement windows on the ground floor, along with two casement dormer windows.
