Description
The Dower House is a house that dates from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame, rendered exterior, and plain tiled roofs, along with 19th century gable end bargeboarding and a red brick axial ridge stack located between the east-west range and the domestic wing at the rear. The original 16th century structure is in an L-plan layout, now with infilling in the angle. The house has two storeys, and the east front includes three first floor 19th century hung sash windows. There are also two canted bays from the 19th century on either side of the doorway, which is sheltered by a continuous lean-to roof. The rear wing is also two storeys tall, although the bay at the west end was originally one storey and has since had its roof raised. There are three first floor windows in this wing. The interior has not been inspected, but it is believed that one room contains 17th century run-through panelling with a frieze decorated with fan ornament, as well as a fireplace featuring a chamfered red brick surround and a segmented head.
