Description

The Ickleton War Memorial is located on a triangular green next to the churchyard of the Grade I-listed church of St Mary Magdalene. It features a squat pink granite obelisk that stands 2.4 meters high, set on a three-stepped square base. The front face of the obelisk bears the inscription: "ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF/ ICKLETON IN MEMORY OF THE/ MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1919/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)." This memorial honors sixteen individuals who died in the First World War and three from the Second World War, with their regiments noted alongside each name. The memorial is surrounded by wrought iron railings.
