Description
The Ickleton War Memorial is located on a triangular green next to the churchyard of the Grade I-listed church of St Mary Magdalene. It features a squat pink granite obelisk that stands 2.4 meters high, set on a three-stepped square base. The front face of the obelisk bears the inscription: "ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF/ ICKLETON IN MEMORY OF THE/ MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1919/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)." This memorial honors sixteen individuals who died in the First World War and three from the Second World War, with their regiments noted alongside each name.
