Description
Wellington House is a public house that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the late 17th century, with additions from the 19th century and alterations from the 20th century. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a brick base. It features a tall ridge stack on the left side and an end stack on the right side. The roofs are plain tiled, although the roof on the right side was originally slated. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a roof extended as an outshut to the north over the cellar. On the ground floor, there are three windows, including one 18th-century bow window and one fifteen-paned hung sash window. The interior has been altered but retains exposed 17th-century floor frames and an open hearth, along with introduced 18th-century details and carved Burma teak features. The building is included for its group value.
