Description
This is a row of cottages, originally seven, known as 'Chapel Terrace', built in the late 18th century or early 19th century by William Day, a builder who lived from 1771 to 1825. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, with some featuring roughcast and pebbledash render. They have pantiled roofs that were formerly thatched. The buildings are one storey high with attics. Some of the cottages were originally used as shops, and others have been recently converted into shops.
The row includes five doors, which consist of two boarded doors, and five horizontal sliding sash windows. There are also two original oriel windows with glazing bars and two oriel shop windows, along with one modern shop window styled in the 19th century for No. 61. Additionally, there are five dormer windows with sloping roofs, each fitted with horizontal sliding sashes, and four ridge stacks.
