Description
The Dog and Duck Inn is a mid-17th century inn located on the north side of Linton High Street. It features a timber-frame structure that is plaster rendered, with 20th-century pargetted panels. The roof is thatched and hipped to the right, with a ridge stack positioned to the right of center and an end stack on the left that has been rebuilt. The building comprises one storey and an attic, with original framed partitions on the first floor. It has a painted brick and plastered plinth, two flush panelled doors located at the center and the right, two horizontal sliding sash windows, and two early 19th-century oriel windows that are supported on shaped brackets. Inside, the first floor showcases exposed timber-frame and floor frames. Historically, the building was recorded as two cottages and a shop in 1840 and became an inn in 1851, owned by Hen. Prior, a brewer.
