Two Barns To East Of East West Range Of Barns West Of Little Linton Farmhouse

Two barns located to the east of the east-west range of barns west of Little Linton Farmhouse date from the mid to late 16th century, with alterations and additions from the 17th century. A later 17th-century barn was added to the west gable. The barns are timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a brick plinth that is plastered, and they have hipped roofs covered in corrugated asbestos.

The original barn consists of six timber-framed bays, with a 17th-century aisle added to the north. The gabled entrance to this aisle has been blocked by a 19th-century timber frame. The wall frames feature curved tension braces, and the roof has double purlins with curved wind braces in each bay. The posts are jowelled, and there are face-halved scarf joints connecting to the plates. The main double entrance facing south has been remodeled in the 20th century.

The barn to the west has five timber-framed bays, with its posts embedded in a red brick plinth. It features straight tension braces and a side purlin roof. The main double entrance also faces south and has an opposing outshut. Historical records indicate that barns on this site are noted on two estate maps from 1600 and another from 1779.
