TL 5447 LINTON CAMBRIDGE ROAD (North Side)

13/85 Two barns to east of east-west range of barns west of Little Linton Farmhouse

GV II

Two barns. Original mid to late C16 barn with C17 alterations and additions; later C17 barn added to west gable. Timber-framed and weather boarded with brick plinth plastered; hipped corrugated asbestos roofs. Original barn of six timber-framed bays with C17 aisle added to north with gabled entrance blocked by C19 timber-frame. Wall frames with curved tension braces. Double purlin roof with curved wind braces to upper purlins in each bay. Jowelled posts with face-halved scarf joints to plates. Main double entrance facing south remodelled in C20. Barn to west, of five timber-framed bays with posts embedded in red brick plinth. Straight tension braces, side purlin roof. Main double entrance facing south with opposing outshut. Barns on this site are recorded on two estate maps.
