Description
An aisled barn, originally likely used for agricultural purposes, was later converted into a cart shed. The building likely dates to the 17th century or later. It is timber-framed and clad with weatherboard, topped with a half-hipped corrugated iron roof. A red brick plinth runs along the base. The barn comprises three timber-framed bays with shallow aisles, featuring straight tension braces and face-halved scarfs to the plates. A three-bay cart hovel, constructed of flint walls, is attached to the west side. Historical records, including maps from 1600 (Paris Map and Pembroke College Estate Map) and 1779 (Essex R.O. Estate Map, Colchester R.O.) document the building's presence.
