Description
A range of three barns dates from the late 17th and 18th centuries. They are built of brick and flint, with brick dressings, and have thatched roofs. The barns are arranged in an L-shape. A smaller, late 17th-century barn has a flint plinth with a brick cap. Its west face has one doorway and one small slit window. The south gable now has a doorway, with a blocked opening above it cut through a platband, and the gable is brick with a blocked opening. A higher barn was added at a right angle to the north, with a flint plinth and brick cap and a blocked slit window. The north face has a large central opening. The interior of this barn has five bays, featuring tie beams with arch braces, collar beams, and two rows of butt purlins with wind braces to the upper row. This barn shares a gable with a third barn of four bays. It has an off-centre doorway to the north face and a large 20th-century door in the east gable wall, topped with a platband and featuring a brick gable. The interior of the third barn has a roof of lighter construction than the adjoining barn, with tie beams, some having arched braces, and two rows of butt purlins, the upper row with wind braces. An open lean-to with a pantiled roof is attached to the south.
