Description
Kirkside is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, which was restored in the mid to late 20th century. It features a timber frame that has been rendered and topped with a thatched roof. The building has an axial ridge stack and a lobby entry, with a two-bay plan that has been extended by one bay to the right. It is one storey high with an attic and includes two dormers. On either side of the doorway to the lobby entry are two late 20th-century casement windows. Inside, the cottage has red brick inglenook hearths and exposed framing with straight bracing. The house is believed to have been built in 1709. In 1842, it was owned by Thomas Jarman junior and occupied by Samuel Ellis, a blacksmith.
