Description

MELBOURN STATION ROAD TL 3844 (North east side) 24/203 No. 2 (Kirkside) GV II

ottage. Late C17 or early C18, restored mid-late C20. Timber framed, now rendered and thatched. Axial ridge stack. Lobby entry and two bay plan, extended by one bay to right hand. One storey and attic. Two dormers. Two late C20 casements on either side of doorway to lobby entry. Interior: has abutting red brick inglenook hearths and exposed framing with straight bracing. The house is said to be dated 1709. In 1842 the cottage was owned by Thomas Jarman jnr. and occupied by Samuel Ellis, blacksmith. C.R.O.: Tithe Map
