Description

There are two headstones and corresponding footstones located south of the chancel at All Saints Church in Melbourn. One headstone commemorates Thomas Hawkes, who died in 1721, and the other honors his wife, Mary, who died in 1716. Both are made of limestone and feature carvings of winged cherubs along with C and S-scrolls and a cartouche. The footstones display the date and initials of the deceased. Additionally, there is a wall monument dedicated to their daughter Mary on the south wall of the chancel.
