Description
The stables at No. 3, Cross Farmhouse, date from 1754 and the 19th century. They are timber-framed, weatherboarded, and built on a red and yellow brick plinth, topped with a long straw thatch roof. The structure consists of six bays and features four stable door openings facing the yard. The weatherboarding on the west side is likely reused from the 17th century. At the south end, there is a small 19th-century barn that now serves as a garage, which is also timber-framed, weatherboarded, and thatched. Inside, the stables contain reused materials, including a brace inscribed with the date 1754 and the initials T.H. Part of one wall and the house end have been rebuilt using clay bat.
