Description
Owldom The Hermitage Water Meadow is a Grade II listed building located on Kings Mill Lane in Great Shelford. This early 19th-century structure originally served as a range of cottages for mill workers, along with warehousing, a granary, and a workshop at the southern end. It was restored in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame, is weatherboarded, and has a roof made of pantiles and thatch from long straw. There are red brick and grey gault brick stacks. The building is one storey high with attics and includes three original gable dormers that have horizontal sliding sashes with small panes. At the ground floor, there are four 20th-century casement windows. The southern cottage, which was originally the warehouse and granary, also has one storey and an attic, featuring a hoist opening in the roof and two cat-slide dormers. Additionally, there is a jettied wing at the rear that is framed, weatherboarded, and has a pantiled roof.
