Description

No. 20 Fowlmere Road is a cottage dating from around 1600, originally built for Thomas Sympton. The building has undergone significant alterations in 1780 and again in the mid to late 20th century. It features a timber frame that is rendered, topped with a steeply pitched tile roof and a ridge stack. The cottage is positioned at the end of the road and has a later lean-to structure at the rear. There is one modern dormer on both the front and rear, and the front wall includes three casement windows, all dating from the late 20th century. The entrance leads to a lobby. Inside, the cottage retains an original red brick inglenook hearth in the central room, along with exposed wall and ceiling framing.
