Description

Nos. 1 and 3 on Mortimers Lane are cottages that date back to 1575, built for William Gybson, and likely divided into two separate dwellings in the 19th century. The cottages feature a timber frame, with parts covered in roughcast, and have a long straw thatch roof that is half hipped at one end. A grey brick ridge stack from the 19th century is present. The building has a single range plan and consists of one storey with an attic, which includes one dormer. There are three small pane sliding sash windows and two horizontal doorways. Additionally, there are small modern additions at the end and rear of the cottages.
