Description

44 and 46 High Street is a Grade II listed building, originally a cottage from 1590 that was enlarged in 1637 for Edward Rayner. The structure is timber framed, with plaster rendering and a long straw thatch roof. It features a rebuilt ridge stack with diagonally set grouped shafts and has a lobby entry plan. The building is one storey with an attic and includes two gable dormers. There are four small casement windows from the mid to late 20th century on either side of the doorway. The cottage was likely subdivided in the late 18th century or early 19th century. Inside, there are exposed chamfered ceiling beams.
