Description

These are three cottages located on Water Lane in Histon. They were built in the late 17th century. The upper stories are timber-framed and plastered, while the ground floor is faced with painted brick. The roof is long straw thatch, with a hip on the right-hand side. A gault brick ridge stack sits atop the roof, and there is a further stack to the rear on the right-hand side. The cottages were originally designed with three units. The upper floor has four horizontal sliding sash windows in flush wooden frames. On the ground floor, there is one large horizontal sliding sash window and two sixteen-pane hung sash windows, each with a three-panelled door. The interior features a large inglenook hearth.
