Description

These are a row of four cottages dating from the late 17th century, located on Station Road in Goostrey village. They are constructed with a brick nogged timber frame, with some areas featuring painted timbers on whitened brickwork. The roofs are now covered in red asbestos-cement slate, originally they were thatched. The cottages are two storeys high with five window bays. Most windows are 3-light flush casements with rectangular leaded glazing. One original window, featuring gudgeon-hung casements, remains at first-floor level. The cottages have boarded doors within heavy frames. The gables have been rebuilt in brick, and there's a single-storey outshut against the east gable. Gable and symmetrically placed party wall stacks are present. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace, bevelled beams, wide boarded doors with old strap hinges, and cottage staircases with winders. Timbers are also visible within the internal walls at first-floor level.
