Description

The table tomb located by the east wall of St Luke's Church in Goostrey Village dates from around 1765. It is made of sandstone and measures 2 metres long, 1.5 metres wide, and 1 metre high. The tomb features an ogee moulded base and ogee moulded corner stones adorned with sun embellishments. It has raised and fielded centre and end panels, along with a scotia moulded pulvinated top slab. This tomb contains the burials of Randle Armstrong of Marton and his two wives, dated 1711, 1758, and 1765. The tomb is included for its group value.
