Description

No. 89 High Street is a cottage built in 1843, as indicated by the date on the gable end. The building features a framed structure with plaster rendering and a steeply pitched tiled roof. It has a grey brick ridge stack with shafts set diagonally on a square base, and it is oriented with its end facing the road. The cottage is one storey with an attic and includes an original gable porch at the end, which has a pointed outer arch that is chamfered. The east elevation has two two-storey bays, each with pointed arches above the windows on the first floor. This cottage was constructed on a plot that was allotted to John Bendyshe under the Enclosure Act of 1836.
