Description

TL 3244 BASSINGBOURN-CUM-KNEESWORTH NORTH END (East Side) 15/52 Nos 14 & 16 (Church Farm House), attached wall and gate piers to south boundary of garden.

GV II

House, divided into two dwellings, formerly a wing to a large house (north wall rebuilt). Late C17 or early C18 extended in mid C19. Red brick and C19 brick. Plain tiled roofs. Two storeys and attic, original building with extension to east. Two stacks. West elevation. Parapet gables and wooden dentil eaves cornice, redder brick details to window openings with gauged brick arches. Two ground floor garden casement windows with single light window to left hand similar to first floor window. Two first floor four-paned hung sash windows. Two gabled dormer windows with panelled wooden side pilasters and moulded cornice. Interior: Some six-fielded-panelled oak doors with brass locks and fielded panelling. Staircase to attic with flat balusters. The room to the north is said to have been a gun room. Garden wall with stone coping, brick piers with moulded stone caps to entrance west of house.
