Description

Poplar Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse with additions and alterations dating from the early and late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with burnt brick in the south elevation, and painted and rendered timber-framed sections on the north elevation. The building forms an L-shaped plan with an outshut to the north. The south facade has three bays and features an early 19th-century recessed panelled door with reeded roundels. Below, there are two sixteen-paned hung sash windows with gauged red brick arches. The first floor features three matching windows, and the second floor has three twelve-paned hung sash windows. A modillioned eaves cornice runs along the top. A stack is positioned on the left-hand side, featuring four shafts united by brick arches. The Victoria County History, Volume 8, page 22, makes reference to the property.
