Description

The Old Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the mid-16th century with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, with some parts weather-boarded, and features plain tiled roofs that are half hipped to the south. The building is two storeys high and has an L-shaped plan with an outshut to the north. The main range has a continuous jetty, and the rear wing was extended in the late 16th or early 17th century. It has a gault brick ridge stack and a rear gable end stack.

On the west elevation, there is a boxed jetty, one early 18th-century window that has been altered on the left side, and one early 19th-century hung sash window. The first floor features two eight-paned hung sash windows. The entrance is located in the rear wing and includes a 19th-century flush-panelled door and a canted bay window, along with two iron-framed early 18th-century casement windows with leaded lights.

Inside, the house has exposed timber framing and chamfered ceiling beams with bar-stops in the hall. The rear kitchen contains a large cooking hearth and 18th-century floor bricks, while the hall features an open hearth and an inglenook with two niches, as well as a sealed hearth with a 19th-century chimney piece in the west room.
