Description

The Crust Warehouse at Hutchings and Hardings Ltd is a tannery building, now used as a Parchment Drying Shed, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of flint and brick with a timber-framed upper storey, topped by a hipped slate roof and featuring cast-iron windows. The ground floor, which was originally designed for steeping tanks, is now infilled. The first floor has large six by six paired windows suitable for workshops, and there is an oversailing loft equipped with adjustable louvered shutters for skin drying. This building is included for its group value.
