Description
The Brook is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure, with the front elevation covered in brick and painted. The house has two end stacks made of some early brick and is topped with plain tiled roofs. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a long east-west range that includes a staircase projection, a 19th-century gable end, and rear additions. The entrance is located to the right of the centre and includes a rectangular fanlight above a panelled door, along with a portico supported by slender columns and pilasters, dating from around 1810. The ground floor has three recessed twelve-paned hung sash windows, while the first floor features five horizontal sliding sash windows. Inside, there are exposed ceiling beams, and the fireplace has been relined with brick. The staircase leading to the first floor has flat shaped balusters, and oak boards surround the central newel leading to the attic floor.
