Description
Church Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with extensions added in the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame that is partially cased and rebuilt in clunch, with dressed clunch used for the later extensions. The building has a steeply pitched, continuous modern tile roof and is arranged in a single range plan that faces the road. The original structure consists of three bays, including an intermediate bay from the 16th century, which was extended by one room towards the road in the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as away from the road. The house is two storeys high, with part of the ground floor on the south wall recessed and a jetty above it. The first floor has four small pane casements, and the doorways are now located in the north wall.
Inside, access to the roof is not available, and only part of the framing can be seen. The main posts have jowled heads, and there is a stop-chamfered main beam in the ground floor room. The hearths are not visible and may have been rebuilt. There is an intermediate post without a tie beam in one bay, and dressed clunch blocks are visible at the east end. The north wall is likely cased or rebuilt in clunch.
