Description

De Freville Farm features a range of farm buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. These structures are constructed with weather-boarded timber framing and stone, topped with plain-tile and pantile roofs, arranged in a Z plan. The section closest to the farmhouse is weather-boarded and has a pantile roof, with various doors and windows, and a lean-to facing the farmyard.

Inside the granary, there are three bays of tall panel framing supported by a 19th-century roof structure above the trusses. Adjacent to the granary is a three-bay barn that has a doorway at the inner angle. This barn is also weather-boarded and features a plain-tile roof. Inside, it has three bays of close-studded framing with cranked tension braces and a clasped purlin roof with curved windbraces.

At right angles to the barn is a stone barn made of flint with brick dressings and clunch, also topped with a plain-tile roof. It includes a door and a pitching door leading to the farmyard. The interior of the stone barn has a simple butt purlin roof with collars and coupled rafters.

This range of well-preserved farm buildings is an important part of the historic context of De Freville Farm and complements the farmhouse and the barn on the property.
