Description
9 Church Street is an 18th-century building that has been altered. It stands two storeys high with attics and is constructed of brick with a tiled roof. The front is symmetrically designed, featuring a central doorway with a moulded frame and a six-fielded-panelled door. Above the door is an ornamental metal fanlight set under a moulded hood supported by shaped brackets. This doorway is flanked by two-storey bay windows that have modern sash windows, and there is a recess on the first floor above the doorway. The building has three hipped dormers and gabled end walls. Originally, the front wall was made of gault brick with red brick dressings, but it has since been covered with red ochre. Nos. 9 to 13 (odd) form a group with Nos. 1 and 3 Westwood Road.
