Description

The Nook is a house located on Church Street, dating from the early 18th century. It is situated adjacent to Barnes House on the north side. The building is two storeys high with attics and features two windows. The original section of the house has a modillioned wooden eaves cornice and windows with flush frames, hung sashes, and original glazing bars. There are also two flat-topped dormers in the roof. The later 18th-century wing projects to the east from the north end of the house and has a gabled end wall that is cemented, with hung sashes and glazing bars. The entrance includes a square-headed, recessed doorway with a half-glazed door and a fanlight. The Nook is part of a group that includes the Church of All Saints and Barnes House.
