Description

Nos 40 to 44 on St Mary's Street, dating from the 18th century, were originally two houses. The building has two storeys and is constructed with a timber frame and plaster, while the ground floor is partly refaced with brick. It features an old tiled hipped roof and six square-headed, flush framed sash windows with glazing bars. The doorways are segmental arched and recessed. No 40 includes a later 19th-century shopfront and a timber-framed range of former cottages at the rear. Nos 36 to 44 and No 48 form a group.
