Description

This is a pair of late 18th-century brick houses, numbers 77 and 79, located on Ermine Street in Huntingdon. The houses are two storeys and have attics. Each house is three bays wide, featuring sash windows with glazing bars set within gauged brick arches. The central doorway has a six-panel door and an original fanlight. Numbers 77 and 79 are distinguished by their plain fluted pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. Number 78 has "Adam" style Corinthian half-columns, an enriched frieze, and a pediment. Cast iron railings lead to the steps. The roofs are tiled mansard roofs, each with three flat-topped dormers and brick end stacks. Group Value: The houses contribute to the group value of buildings in this area.
