Description
The Coach and Horses Public House, located at No 55 on Ermine Street, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted gault brick and stands two storeys high with a tile roof. The façade features three 19th-century sash windows and a central wooden doorcase adorned with fluted Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. The shopfronts are in the Regency style, with small panes and a slight bow. The building has brick end stacks. Adjacent, at No 54, which is from the late 18th century to early 19th century, is a three-storey structure with three sash windows that include glazing bars. It has a central panelled door with an arched head, a cornice, and a parapet, though the roof is not visible. To the right of No 54 is a two-storey and attic building with two windows and one flat-topped dormer in a tile roof.
