Description
The Bridge Hotel, located on the west side of Market Square, dates back to 1590 and features a late 16th century or early 17th century core with later additions, primarily from the mid-19th century. The building has two storeys, with a pebble dash finish on the first floor and painted brick on the ground floor. It is topped with tiled gabled roofs. The windows from the 19th century include transom and mullion designs, and the doorways are adorned with bracketed hoods. Notable features include a first-floor oriel window and a modern wrought iron sign. Additionally, there is a reset pargetted panel in the upper part of the south wall, which reveals internal timber framing behind it, along with a plaster panel painted with roses and strapwork. The property is also marked by stone gate piers.
