Description
Ivy House is a cottage that likely dates back to the 17th century, though it has been partly demolished to accommodate a mid-19th century house on the left side. The building is two stories high and features a gabled facade facing the road. It is constructed from yellow gault brick, accented with red brick segmental window arches, and has modern tile roofs. The exterior includes a decorated barge board with a finial and a ridge stack. There is a side entry, three hung sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, and three casement windows on the ground floor. A dormer window is located on the right side, and there is a splayed bay window facing the road. Inside, the cottage has a large inglenook with a baking oven. In the 19th century, it was the home of Allpress, a well-known local builder.
