Description

This is a late 16th-century cottage located on the east side of Broughton Bridge Road. Originally a three-unit plan structure, it incorporates a sunken dairy to the right, with alterations made in the 19th century. The cottage is built with rendered timber framing and has a thatched roof. It features a ridge stack and a later external gable stack on the right-hand side. Dormer windows are present, each with three horizontal sliding sash windows containing glazing bars. The ground floor also has three horizontal sliding sash windows set within segmental arches. A four-panelled door provides access. Inside, original inglenook hearths remain, along with a later addition of a baking oven. The interior also features stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops.
