Description
Birds Farmhouse is a late 17th century or early 18th century farmhouse located on Broughton Bridge Road. The building is two storeys high with attics and features a lower two-storey range on the left side. At the rear, there is a gabled stair turret with a dentil brick eaves cornice. The east gable wall has two single brick bands. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, and there is a ridge stack to the left of the center, along with a later rough-cast end stack on the right.
The farmhouse has two flat-roofed hung sash dormer windows with glazing bars. On the first floor, there are three hung sash windows with glazing bars set in flat arches, and on the ground floor, there are three hung sash windows with side lights. A modern door is located on the left side, sheltered by a triangular pedimented open porch.
Inside, the farmhouse features two large inglenook hearths, one of which is sealed. The ceilings have stop-chamfered beams, and there is an original closed string staircase with square sectioned newels topped with ball finials.
