Description

Shirdley House is an early 18th-century farmhouse, with a largely 19th-century facade. It has a T-shaped plan and a later wing at the rear. The house is two storeys and has attics, with a five-window front. It has a tiled roof with a central chimney stack of gault brick. A red brick gable stack with weathered offsetts is located at the rear wing. The south gable wall is of red brick with a first-floor band. The front is pebble-dashed, with stucco block quoins, a moulded eaves cornice, and carved kneelers. The windows are recessed sash windows with stucco voussoirs, key blocks, and glazing bars. At the rear are flush-framed sash windows from the early 18th century, with exposed boxing and glazing bars. A prostyle Doric portico fronts the recessed doorway, featuring reeded jambs and a cornice, and a panelled door.
