Description
The Manor House is a late 16th century or early 17th century building that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is designed in an L-shape with a gabled stair turret at the angle. The structure is primarily made of rubblestone on a stone plinth, with a timber-framed rear wall that is cased in stone. The corners feature rustication of dressed stone. The roof is plain tiled and gabled, with two stacks: one at the gable end that has three gault brick shafts linked at the capping, and a ridge stack with four gault brick shafts. The house is two storeys high and has late 18th century or early 19th century windows on the front elevation. This includes two tripartite hung sashes with glazing bars on either side of a single hung sash with glazing bars at the first floor, and two similar tripartite hung sashes at the ground floor. The entrance features a panelled door set in a semi-circular headed doorway, topped by a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Inside, there is a four-centred arch to the doorway at the foot of the newel staircase, which has an early 17th century closed string that has been partially repaired, a moulded rail, and a newel post with a finial. There is also a later outshut at the rear, made of stone and tiles, along with a brick addition to the left side.
