Description
BURY BURY HILL 1. 5140 (south side) Manor House TL 28 SE 1/7 II 2. Late C16 or early C17 house with later alterations and additions. L-plan with gabled stair turret in angle. Mainly rubblestone on stone plinth with timber-framed rear wall cased in stone. Rustication of dressed stone at corners. Plain tiled, gabled roof with two stacks. One at gable end with three gault brick shafts linked at capping. One ridge stack with four gault brick shafts. Two-storeys. Late C18 or early C19 fenestration to front elevation. Two tripartite hung sashes with glazing bars on either side of one hung sash with glazing bars at first floor. Two similar tripartite hung sashes at ground floor. Panelled door in semi-circular headed doorway. Fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Interior: four centred arch to doorway at foot of newel staircase. Early C17 closed string, part repaired. Moulded rail. Newel post with finial. Later outshut at rear. Stone, tiled. Brick addition to left hand. (RCHM Huntingdonshire p 43).
